I do not imagine cleats as "go fast" gear....I consider them as safety gear. I have found quite a few persons drop and drop guns or slip and tumble wearing hiking footwear when it would not happen when they had been sporting cleats. the one time I'v seen them be considered a disadvantage was on stairs, platforms and many others that do not have car
